MIDDLE STATES COMMITTEE MINUTES

January 29, 2009

 

Members Present:  Margaret Dellraria, Patrick Hanrahan, Holly Harris, Terri King, Lisa Kitchenman, Sandy Kuhlwein, Michael Landers, Carol Luccioni, June Monticello, Bob Mulligan, Tom O’Hara, Jerri Parlow, Sandy Pasola, John Ravally, Vanessa Rudd, Phyllis Thomson, Bill Whitman, and Stephanie Woit

 

1.       New committee members were introduced, and everyone received an up-to-date list of all Middle States Committee members, together with their contact information.

 

2.      Ms. King distributed to everyone a folder containing the following items:

o   Surveys (Parent Opinion Inventory, Teacher Opinion Inventory, Student Opinion Inventory, High School follow-up Survey, Community Opinion Inventory)

o   Current District Mission Statement   

o   Five proposed District Mission Statements

o   School Beliefs Inventory

o   School Beliefs Inventory Results

o   Middle States Standards

 

She briefly discussed the significance of these items and gave an overview of the projected timeframe of the Middle States process.  This would include reviewing all data once it is compiled and based upon that data, writing goals and action plans which would be in place by the end of the 2008 – 2009 school year.   Ms. King also informed the group that the Application for Evaluation has been submitted and we have asked for a Middle States visit for March 8th, 15th, or 22nd of 2010.

 

3.       For the duration of the meeting, the Middle States Committee reviewed five proposed Mission Statement drafts and from there worked towards creating one viable Mission Statement.  The Committee voted on which of the proposed Mission Statements they wanted to focus and then discussed which aspects of the remaining ones they wanted to incorporate into the new Mission Statement.  At the end of the meeting, the Committee had created a new Mission Statement which reflected the input of all present.

 

4.       The meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.
